Tottenham could have been "braver" in Sunday's defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final, according to Harry Kane.

Kane admitted that Spurs still have "a way to go" to match City and said they could have taken more risks in possession at the weekend.

"Whenever you lose a big game, a cup final, obviously you spend a good day or so reflecting and thinking what we could have done better," Kane said after being named Premier League player of the year at last night's London Football Awards.

"City are a fantastic team, they played extremely well on the day. We defended really well, obviously Hugo [Lloris] made some fantastic saves, we made some big blocks at the right moment.

"The way we conceded was disappointing, in terms of a set play. Of course, when you look back we probably could have a little better, probably could have been a little braver on the ball.

“We did not create too many chances or give them too many problems which was probably the biggest disappointment.

"It is easy to talk after a final and as players to talk about what we could have done, but at the end of the day we didn’t do enough on the pitch to win the game and we didn’t create enough chances to win the game.

"We have got to take that responsibility as players to be better in those moments and we can only learn from it and try and improve for the future."
