Gareth Bale has revelled in a "dream come true" as Real Madrid made Champions League history in Wales.

The former Tottenham man won his third Champions League in four years as Los Blancos become the first team to retain the trophy since AC Milan in 1990.

Bale has not played since injuring a calf muscle in April but managed 13 minutes after coming off the bench and was delighted to win Real's 12th European Cup at his national team's stadium.

"What an incredible scene," he said to BT Sport. "The stadium is incredible and the city has done an immaculate job to host such a great event and we thank everyone for that.

"To win at home is a dream come true. It's been a hard season, at one point it looked like I wasn't going to make the final but I've worked tirelessly at home but this is the rewards you get for the hard work you put in."

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice, the second the 600th goal of his remarkable career, with Casemiro and Marco Asensio giving Real a dominant final scoreline as Juventus conceded more in the final than the rest of their entire season run in the competition.

"It was just a bit more confidence," Bale added of the difference between the two teams. "I knew it was going to be a tight game so it was about taking your chances, and we did that."
