Patrice Evra may be hours away from potentially winning the Champions League trophy when Juventus take on Barcelona tonight, but the defender has admitted his departure from Manchester United last summer was 'the wrong decision'.

Evra left the Red Devils last year after eight seasons with the Old Trafford outfit and signed a two-year deal with Juve in a £1.2million transfer.

In just one season with the Italian giants, Evra has won Serie A and the Coppa Italia and will now play in the Champions League final this evening as Juve take on Luis Enrique's Barca side in Berlin.

Despite Evra having the chance to secure the treble with Juve should they reign victorious at the Olympiastadion tonight, Evra has revealed that leaving United is always 'the wrong decision' for a player to make.

"It was really difficult for me to leave Manchester United. I left for a personal choice," the 34-year-old told Sky Sports.

"It does not matter if you go somewhere and you are still winning, it is always the wrong decision to leave a club like United."

The Frenchman also admitted that he found Juventus' training methods tough to adapt to when he first arrived in Turin, but revealed the hard work has helped keep him at the top of his game.

"It was a shock at the beginning because, to be fair, I did not expect the way Juventus Football Club were working. They work really hard," he added.

"I think the training sessions are more difficult than the game. It’s a great experience because, even for my age now, I feel like I’m more powerful than when I was younger.
