Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho: I always won at Old Trafford - why not with Manchester United?

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho sees no reason why he can't taste immediate success at Manchester United after pointing to his past record of winning games at Old Trafford as to why he can hit the ground running in his new role.

The 53-year-old has won many games at United with his previous teams Porto, Chelsea and Real Madrid, and Mourinho is hoping to do the same but, now, as manager of the Red Devils.

"The first time I managed there it was exactly a dream for me because it was on the way to winning the Champions League with Porto," he said in an interview with Adidas Front Row.

"We scored a goal in the last minute at Old Trafford and made history for myself and my country,"

"So for me there was always that connection that anything is possible, it’s the Theatre of Dreams.

"I did it with Porto, I won there with Chelsea, I won there with Real Madrid, so why can’t I do it with Man United, playing at home with the fans in the stadium behind us? I am waiting for that."

Mourinho has already been quick to bring in new recruits with defender Eric Bailly, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and midfielder Henrikh Mihitaryan signing for United in recent weeks.

The Portuguese is still targeting one more player, but any prospective deal is unlikely to be completed before the Red Devils play their first pre-season friendly against Wigan on Saturday.
