Former Chelsea captain John Terry is close to agreeing a deal to join Bournemouth.

As Standard Sport revealed earlier this week, the 36-year-old is asking for £100,000-a-week.

Bournemouth are prepared to pay Terry the sum for the 2017/18 Premier League season, plus include the option of another year.

The former England skipper is leaving Stamford Bridge after 22 years in search of regular football after being forced to settle for a place on Antonio Conte's bench last season, despite the Italian coach's switch to a three-man central defence.

The Cherries have already signed one Chelsea player this summer, with Asmir Begovic moving to the south-coast club in a deal worth around £10million after failing to dislodge Thibaut Courtois as No.1 goalkeeper in west London.

Nathan Ake enjoyed a successful loan spell with Eddie Howe's side, with his fine performances leading to a recall by Conte in January as defensive back-up for Chelsea's title run-in.
