Fenerbahce want to beat PSV Eindhoven to the signing of Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel in the summer.

Van Ginkel is currently enjoying a second spell on loan at PSV having impressed there last year too.

The Holland international has scored seven goals in 11 appearances in the Dutch League and PSV are considering whether to make the deal permanent.

But Fenerbahce have already decided to make a move for the 24-year-old and want to open talks with the Blues.

Fenerbahce boss Dick Advocaat said: “He’s a good player. He can be the one who will move the ball from the midfield area to the last third.

"He’s a good passer and also a great competitor. He has a good mindset. If the terms are acceptable, signing him would be a no-brainer.”

Van Ginkel was signed by Chelsea for £8m in 2013, but he has made just four appearances in as many years for the first team.

His ability to make an impact at Stamford Bridge suffered a major blow in his first season after sustaining a serious knee ligament injury in September.

It kept Van Ginkel on the sidelines for most of the campaign and he's struggled to get an opportunity ever since.

Chelsea, who also sent him on loan to AC Milan and Stoke, did extend his contract until 2019 before he went back to PSV at the start of the year.

Van Ginkel's agent Karel Jansen has not ruled out the possibility of him staying at Chelsea just yet.

Speaking to Standard Sport, Jansen said: "It is not clear what will happen, it is still early. The current season is still running so nothing has been decided.

"Discussions over whether he is part of Chelsea's plans are still to be had. We must wait for the end of the season and after that we will consult with them.

"Chelsea renewed his contract before he went away on loan so in our opinion there is still a future at the club.

"We don't know if PSV want to sign him permanently. PSV have not made a decision yet about next season at this stage."
