Xavi drops major hint over transfer intentions with Erling Haaland: ‘Nobody has said no to Barcelona’

Barcelona boss Xavi has expressed his confidence at completing a move for Erling Haaland - insisting that “no footballer” has ever turned down the club.

The Borussia Dortmund striker is a major target for multiple clubs in the upcoming summer transfer market, with Barcelona battling the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City for his services.

Despite the Catalans’ recent money troubles, plus the fact that they are currently out of the domestic title race and relying the Europa League, the coach sees no reason why a player like Haaland would not join.

“You said that I have met Haaland...” Xavi remarked to reporters on Wednesday “I didn't know he had seen me.

“It’s always a good time to sign for Barcelona. We are the best club in the world.

“There has been no footballer who has said no to Barcelona since I've been here.”

Meanwhile, former Camp Nou star Hristo Stoichkov has called on his old club to make Haaland a statement signing.

“I would sign him,” he told Cadena SER. “Barcelona need to land a big blow.

“Hopefully the club will make a great effort for him to arrive and make history with Barcelona. He has a lot of quality, to score goals and also to create them.”
