Chelsea have been handed another cause for concern ahead of the title run-in with the news that Eden Hazard has joined David Luiz in picking up a minor injury.

Luiz has been playing through the pain barrier with a knee problem for the past two months after a terrible tackle by Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

But Standard Sport understands that Hazard also suffered a knock against Leicester just under three weeks ago and it has been affecting his performances.

The Belgium international was substituted with 11 minutes remaining in that 3-0 victory and he has come off early in the following two matches as well, against Hull and Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Hazard was seen pointing to his hamstring as he walked down the tunnel and went to have treatment on it from the club's staff.

However, the 26-year-old, who hasn't scored in his last five appearances, didn't appear to be limping when he boarded the team bus after the 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Hazard trained with the rest of the squad as normal yesterday and is in contention to face Arsenal on Saturday despite feeling the strain.

Luiz has revealed that the discomfort in his knee is restricting him in training and in matches.

Aguero was sent off for an ugly two footed lunge on Luiz near the end of Chelsea's 3-1 victory at Etihad Stadium in December.

The Brazil international said: “I’ve been feeling my knee for some time, I’ve been playing a bit impaired, but it’s all part of football. It’s ok, we’ll treat it now and rest for Saturday’s game.”

It is believed Luiz has been in regular consultation with Chelsea's medical department over how to cope with the injury and still play.

The centre half has been wearing strapping round his right knee for the majority of his appearances since Aguero's challenge and was left out of the squad for both FA Cup matches last month.
