Dele Alli has urged Tottenham not to forget how much they have achieved in the Premier League this season, despite missing out on the title.

Mauricio Pochettino's side proved to be Chelsea's closest challengers and signed off of their final campaign at White Hart Lane in style.

The north Londoners' achieved their highest-ever points tally and also claimed second place for the first time in the modern era.

Failing to secure silverware led to widespread disappointment in N17 but Alli is convinced Spurs should stay positive about the progress the club has made.

"There's a lot of positives to take. We're all disappointed that we couldn't do it in the end and win the league," he told Sky Sports.

"But you've got to say Chelsea played very well. We made up the gap towards the end, we were performing very well, and it was a disappointing night against West Ham.

"But it's important we don't forget about how much we have done. We look at the positives and it's a great place for us to build from."

Spurs have challenged for the title for two successive seasons and are primed to finish the current campaign strongly ahead of their two remaining fixtures against Leicester and Hull City.

Such an achievement eluded Pochettino's men last term, due to a late collapse at Newcastle, but Alli is adamant Spurs are mentally strong enough to cope with the demands of competing for honours.

"[This season] has shown how strong we have got mentally.

"Being in the title race for so long there was so many games where we were winning and then Chelsea were winning.

"It's been an unbelievable experience for me this season - we've been playing so well. I'm happy to be part of the team when we're playing like this," he added.
