Chelsea defender David Luiz has called for caution after Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough took Antonio Conte's side top of the Premier League table.

It is the first time that the Blues have led the division since they were crowned champions of the 2014/15 campaign, but with matches against Tottenham and Manchester City on the horizon, the Brazil international is keen to keep his team-mates grounded.

"It is the first time in the season that we are top of the League, but we have to understand that it is just the beginning,” Luiz told Chelsea TV after the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.

"We have done an amazing job, but we need to keep our feet on the floor, act with humility, because every game is tough.

"It's important to finish top of the League. Of course we are happy to be first now, but it is too early to speak about the title. It's important to be top for the last League game, that's our goal."
