David Luiz: Antonio Conte has Chelsea playing like snipers - we shoot to kill

David Luiz has likened Chelsea's away displays to snipers, with Antonio Conte's side "shooting to kill" against Southampton.

Since Antonio Conte's switch to a 3-4-3 formation after Premier League defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal, Chelsea are unbeaten in four league games with four clean sheets.

Chelsea impressed with a clinical 2-0 victory at Southampton last Sunday - an altogether different performance to the previous result in which they dominated Manchester United with a 4-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

Summer signing Luiz says the Blues are adapting to constantly changing demands of Premier League football, with Conte setting up his team differently for each specific challenge.

"You need to prepare and plan for each game in the best way," Luiz told the club's official website. "Sometimes, when you play away, you need to understand that the opposition might have more possession of the ball.

"The home team can often be more excited playing in front of their own fans so you have to play with intelligence and wait, like a sniper, for an opportunity.

"Southampton was that type of game. We found ourselves in good positions and we shot to kill.

"It’s important to understand when you need to play that type of game and when you need to impose yourself and be more dominant. For me, the key is to try to understand the best plan for each specific game."

Chelsea are likely to adapt once again as they welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with Luiz expecting a battle against Ronald Koeman's Toffees as Romelu Lukaku returns to Stamford Bridge.

"The last games are in the past so we need to prepare ourselves for the next battle," he added.

"It will be a tough game, Everton have some amazing players and a good philosophy but we must play our football and be careful in possession.

"I hope we can continue to play well and win games because it gives you a good feeling."
