Darren Bent stops Tweeting

11 April 2012

Darren Bent has quit Twitter to focus on Sunderland's fight to avoid relegation.

Bent regularly used the site to post comments on his private life, which included an F-word rant at Tottenham regarding delays over his transfer last summer.

"I had a good chat with the manager recently and I just thought with the run we're on at the moment, I needed to get rid of the distractions," said the striker.

"I have to solely focus on getting Sunderland out of the relegation battle and I have shut the Twitter down.

"I don't even go on it any more to look at what other people are posting. I felt for me, it's run its course."
