Connor Wickham will miss the next three Crystal Palace matches after the FA Independent Regulatory Commission found him guilty of violent conduct.
Match officials had missed an incident in the London derby with Tottenham when the striker appeared to raise his arm towards Jan Vertonghen's face but was subsequently charged based on video evidence.
An FA statement confirmed: "The Crystal Palace forward was charged with violent conduct following an incident with Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen in the 69th minute of the game on Saturday, which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
"Wickham admitted the charge but mitigated against the standard three-match suspension, however, this was rejected by the Independent Regulatory Commission."

The 22-year-old, though he has scored just one league goal all season, has been a relatively impressive addition for Palace this season, though his starting place could come under threat with the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor.
With Alan Pardew not deeming Adebayor ready to go straight into the Palace first-team for Saturday's cup tie against Stoke Frazier Campbell may be called on to lead the line.
Pardew does, however, expect his new signing to offer plenty to a side with just one goal in their last six games.
"Our initial look at him has been good," he said. "We are buoyed by that. He looks good in training. He looks fine. He does not look too far away."
