Crystal Palace were on Wednesday set to complete the loan signing of Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

Frank de Boer has been looking to strengthen his defensive options and the 19-year-old has agreed to move to Selhurst Park for the 2017-18 season.

Standard Sports understands Fosu-Mensah was due to train with Palace for the first time on Wednesday after completing a medical on Tuesday.

Fosu-Mensah, who made just four starts last season, told reporters ahead of completion of the loan move: “It’s fine because you’re surrounded by great players [at Manchester United].

“Every day, in and out, you train with great players. You develop every day with these great players.

“I just want to develop, keep developing. I am young so I try to work on my weaker stuff and to become a better and complete player.

"I need a bit of experience, things like concentration, touches, communicating on the pitch.”
