On-loan Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho says he would be happy to return to Liverpool despite being frozen out by Jurgen Klopp earlier this season.

Sakho has been perhaps the outstanding player in Palace’s battle against relegation in recent weeks, with the Eagles keeping three clean sheets in their last five games.

Klopp had sidelined Sakho at Anfield in the first half of this season, not playing him in a first-team game, but the 27-year-old hinted he would be keen to return to Merseyside next season.

“I still have a contract for three more years,” he told Telefoot.

“If I were to wear the Liverpool jersey again, I would be happy to do so.

“I was late for training, something that happens everywhere. I paid a fine and I do not know what else I can do.

“It is up to the boss. He makes the decisions and I can only accept that. We will see what happens if my future is elsewhere.”

The France international joined Palace on deadline day in January with the Eagles paying a loan fee of around £2million to bring Sakho to Selhurst Park.

However Palace did not agree a purchase clause in their loan agreement with Liverpool and the likes of Southampton and Napoli are said to be considering a summer move for Sakho.
