Scott Dann will undergo an ankle scan having been forced off at Burnley and will not be available for Tuesday's game against Bournemouth.

Dann, back in the Crystal Palace side at the weekend as cover for the already injured Gary Cahill - who will also miss the Bournemouth game - was on crutches and wearing a protective boot at the training ground on Monday.

Having started the season so well stocked at the back, Hodgson is another injury short of being in trouble in a position few thought would be an issue.

Martin Kelly is having to cover at right-back for Joel Ward, who is out until the new year, while Mamadou Sakho, who will start alongside James Tomkins on Tuesday, is short of match fitness having struggled with injury over the summer and into the season.

Palace are hopeful that Cahill will be fit to return to the side when they travel to relegation battling Watford on Saturday.
