Christian Eriksen is relishing the opportunity to be part of Tottenham's long-term "project" after committing his future to Mauricio Pochettino's side.

The Denmark international's new terms have propelled him into the club's top bracket of earners with Erik Lamela, Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane set to be prioritised as Spurs attempt to tie the nucleus of their squad to fresh contracts.

Eriksen is one of eight current first-team members to have made over 100 appearances for the club and, with Champions League football and a new stadium on the horizon, the 24-year-old is adamant the prospect of a bright future convinced him Spurs is the right place to be.

"If you feel there is a good project ahead of you, you will take the chance to build on it and that’s what we’re doing at Spurs," he told the club's official website.

"There are eight players playing a lot of games and with that experience, you can only get better and better because none of us are that old yet.

"Everyone wants to be here, everyone wants to improve and everyone wants to win games."

Tottenham were previously seen as a selling club but they have retained the services of all the key players who contributed to their third-place finish in the Premier League last season.

And Eriksen is adamant the camaraderie that was borne out of last term's failure will help to spur Pochettino's young side on to success.

"It’s never fun to lose but it helps if you come out the other side in a better mood and the experience, you definitely take that with you.

"We’ve done that. We know we could have finished stronger [last season[ but we gave our all and now we have a chance to improve this season and hopefully it will be even better,” he added.

Spurs have won one of their opening three Premier League games this season and have a chance to record their second victory when they travel to Stoke City on Saturday.
