Gary Cahill today admitted Chelsea have blown their title chances but insisted they must bounce back against Paris St-Germain in the Champions League.

Chelsea lost 1-0 at Crystal Palace on Saturday and saw Liverpool take over top spot yesterday. Manchester City are two points behind the second-placed Blues with two games in hand.

Cahill is now focusing on the Champions League, with Chelsea playing the first leg of their quarter-final on Wednesday.

He said: “We have to bounce back. It hurt at the end of the Palace game because we knew how vital three points would be. For us to not get them is very damaging.

“If I’m totally honest probably, yes [Chelsea’s title challenge is over], that’s certainly how I felt at the end of the game.

“Mentally we have to be right. We have to be ruthless, go to places like Selhurst Park and do a job. We knew it was going to be difficult but we have to get the job done. Unfortunately we didn’t do that.

“It’s massively disappointing, the feeling at the end of the game was horrible but all we can do is keep pushing and try to win our games.”
