Abdul Baba Rahman still has a future at Chelsea despite being on the verge of a season-long loan to Schalke.

Baba Rahman joined in a deal worth up to £21.7million from Augsburg last August, but started only 11 matches.

Antonio Conte rates the Ghana left-back, but feels he would develop quicker playing regularly for Schalke in the Bundesliga.

Standard Sport also understands that Denmark defender Andreas Christensen will not be sold to Borussia Monchengladbach, despite claims from Germany to the contrary.

Chelsea have already snubbed an offer worth £14.5m, but Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl claimed they were hopeful of agreeing a club record transfer soon.

But Standard Sport revealed in April that the 20-year-old, who joined Gladbach on a two-year loan in 2015, has been earmarked for a squad place for the 2017-18 campaign and that remains the case.

Christensen will see out his loan at the German club and then return to west London to compete for a spot in the side.
