Monaco are ready to come to the rescue of Chelsea misfit Gael Kakuta and sign him in the summer.

Kakuta is currently at Rayo Vallecano, which is the sixth club he has been sent on loan to during his career at Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old was tipped to become a major force but has failed to fulfil his potential. He is best known for Fifa’s decision to ban Chelsea from signing players for two transfer windows in 2009 after they judged the club to have been guilty of inducing the midfielder to break his contract with Lens two years earlier.

The punishment was overturned on appeal but Chelsea ended up paying Lens £1million compensation.

Kakuta, who played just 16 times for the Blues, has struggled to get his career back on track after spells at Fulham, Bolton, Dijon, Vitesse Arnhem and Lazio but has made more of an impression at Rayo in La Liga.

His form has caught the attention of Monaco, who want to sign cheaper players to help comply with Financial Fair Play rules.
