Chelsea captain John Terry may be keen to continue playing as long as he can for his boyhood club, but the defender is still preparing for life after football by doing his coaching badges.

The 35-year-old, who signed a new one-year contract at Chelsea in May, gave fans a sneak peek into the work he is putting in for his Uefa B, A and Pro Licence in an Instagram post on Thursday.

The picture on the social media website shows several tactical diagrams and notes made by Terry in years gone by, and was accompanied with the words: "Doing some homework for my coaching badges, and running through all the sessions I have written down over the years."

The post suggests that Terry remains keen on going into management once his football career ends after the 35-year-old previously hinted he had gone off the idea.

Speaking in March, before he was handed a new deal at Chelsea, Tery said of becoming a manager: "It probably was [an ambition] a couple of years ago. It’s taken a bit longer than I expected.

"But for me it’s changed. I’m not sure I want to go into that. I’ve had so many managers and learned so much. Basically if I don’t dip my toe in at some point in my career...

"While I’ve got a couple of years left, the main thing for me is to fully focus on that and give everything."

Terry is expected to start in Chelsea's Premier League clash at home to Leicester City on Saturday following his recovery from an ankle injury.
