Antonio Conte believes the early success of English sides in this season's Champions League demonstrates the "high" quality of the Premier League.

Chelsea currently sit top of their Champions League group after two wins from two, the second of which saw the Blues come from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the Spanish capital on Wednesday night.

Chelsea's league rivals Manchester United and Manchester City also lead the way in Group A and Group F respectively while Tottenham sit joint-top of Group H with European holders Real Madrid.

Liverpool are the only English side who have faltered in Europe's elite competition following two draws, but Conte still thinks the showings of the Premier League teams in the Champions League this term has demonstrated the quality of clubs on these shores.

"I think that, in the Champions League, every English team is showing it's very difficult to play against Manchester City, against United, against us, Liverpool and Tottenham," Conte said on Friday.

"I think that the Champions League is showing our league, the level of our league, is very high. These types of results are showing this.

"This league is very difficult. We have to see in the future, when a lot of fixtures start to come, our response in the Champions League. Because, in the past, it was very difficult when you arrive in the quarter-finals or semi-finals.

"Now, I think, every team is showing themselves to be very strong and very good."
