Antonio Conte insists his relationship with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is unchanged after a frustrating start to his second season at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea swept to the title in Conte’s first season in charge but have struggled for consistency this season.

The Blues find themselves nine points off early pace-setters Manchester City after 10 Premier League games and slipped to second in their Champions League group with a 3-0 loss at Roma on Tuesday.

Abramovich held talks with Conte after last week’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth, before the humiliating defeat in Rome that has heaped further pressure on the Italian ahead of Sunday’s visit of Manchester United, and former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, to Stamford Bridge.

However Conte is convinced he has nothing to fear from an owner who is not known for his patience.

“My relationship [with Abramovich] is the same as last season,” Conte said. “I don't see a difference between this season and last season.

“I know I have to do my job. My only worry is to do my job with all myself.

“I repeat: I'm doing my job in this way so, for this reason, when I finish my work here and go home, I'm satisfied with what I'm doing this season for this club, and last season for this club, and for months.”
