Cesc Fabregas believes Jose Mourinho will not be relieved of his duties as Chelsea manager after insisting the champions have the quality to revive their poor start to the season.

Mourinho's long-term future at Stamford Bridge has been called into question in the last month, with the Portuguese coach having overseen the club's worst start to a campaign in more than a decade.

Chelsea have lost seven Premier League games already this term, which has left them in 16th place in the league standings, but the club and several of the players have publicly backed Mourinho in the last few weeks.

Fabregas is one of the Chelsea first-team members to have shown their support for Mourinho despite claims he has led a "mini-revolt" in the dressing room, and the Spaniard has now said he doesn't believe the Blues boss will pay the price for the champions' disappointing performances this term.

"I don't think Mou will be sacked," Fabregas told Spanish radio station Cadena COPE.

"Obviously the results are not as favourable as we would want but our level of play is not as bad as the results suggest.

"But I am still confident in this group and this team and I am sure we will be able to improve things.

"I'm certain we will improve. I trust this group."
