Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu could face a vote of no confidence after a motion of censure secured 90% of the necessary signatures from members on Wednesday.

The Més que una Moció platform was launched two weeks ago after months of planning from 'socis' and has until the end of the day to collect the 16,521 signatures needed to force a vote.

As of Wednesday afternoon, around 90% had been collected and the platform called for one last push from club members in an attempt to bring about a vote against Bartomeu.

Barca have not made any public comment on the motion of censure, while coverage in the Catalan media has been at a minimum and organisers have had to work extra hard to secure signatures with no games taking place and no fans allowed even at friendlies due to Covid-19.

There is also no way of registering electronically, meaning members have to be in Catalonia or in one of the few overseas locations where documents can be signed.

If the 16,250 signatures are secured, a vote will take place to decide whether Bartomeu stays or goes, with 66 per cent needed to be against the current president in order to remove him immediately from the role.
