Italian job: Ashley Cole is happy at Roma, insist his agent
Simon Johnson17 December 2014

Ashley Cole is determined to fight for his place at Roma and is not considering a shock move on loan to Crystal Palace next month.

Cole has struggled to make an impact at the Serie A club since leaving Chelsea as as a free agent in the summer.

The former England left back, who turns 34 on Saturday, has been left out of the starting XI in favour of Jose Holebas for the last five games.

It has been reported that Palace, where Cole enjoyed at loan spell at from Arsenal in 2000, were hoping to capitalise in the situation and lure him to Selhurst Park.

But the managing director of Stellar Group, the agency that represents Cole, has dismissed the speculation.

David Manasseh said: "Ashley is loving life in Italy and in Rome. He has never been happier.

"Whoever has given this information out is a disgrace because all it does is give fans of a football club false hope.

"Ashley is concentrating on trying to win trophies in Italy and, in particular, Serie A this season. Nothing else."

Cole signed a two-year agreement with Roma where his package, including bonuses, is worth £80,000-a-week.

Warnock is in the market for a new left back, but Cole's package is way above their wage structure with highest earner Scott Dann on £40,000-a-week.
