Arsene Wenger and Alexis Sanchez shake hands again as Alex Iwobi returns to Arsenal training

Alex Iwobi returned to training with Arsenal today having seemingly shaken off the illness bug that had spread around Arsene Wenger’s squad.

Both the Nigerian forward and Danny Welbeck missed Tuesday’s 5-1 Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich with the same sickness, which had also laid Mesut Ozil ill the previous week.

Iwobi and Welbeck remain doubts for Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final at home to National League side Lincoln, where Wenger is expected to name several squad players including Lucas Perez, Gabriel and Kieran Gibbs in his lineup.

Alexis Sanchez could be reserved for the bench – as he was in the last round away to fellow non-league side Sutton United – and played a full part in training.

Notably he and Wenger were pictured shaking hands during the session, just as they had done on Monday as it emerged that Sanchez had become an increasingly difficult figure to manage within the Arsenal dressing room.
