Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is "scared" that destiny is against Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

The Reds have not won a top flight title since 1990 and know they will miss out by a single point this season if both they and Manchester City achieve maximum points from their final two matches.

Wenger told beIN Sports: "I'm scared for Liverpool that even with one game to go Man City could already have won the championship in the next game but they will fight until the end.

"It looks like there is a destiny against Liverpool. They dominated for a long period in English football and suddenly from 89-90 until today they cannot win the championship anymore.

"And every time there is small things against them."

Liverpool travel to Newcastle on Saturday before hosting Wolves on the final day, while City welcome Leicester ahead of a trip to the Amex Stadium to complete their campaign.

City are boosted by the fact that the Premier League is now their sole focus, with Liverpool facing a trip to Barcelona on Wednesday before they welcome the Liga champions on Tuesday week.
