Arsenal XI vs Manchester City: Confirmed team news, starting lineup, injury latest - Gabriel Martinelli starts

Injured Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will miss Arsenal's Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester City, but Gabriel Martinelli starts tonight.

Aubameyang was ruled out of the loss at Everton with a calf injury and the visit of City comes too soon.

Arteta, though, is hopeful Aubameyang will make a quick return with Chelsea to come on Boxing Day.

"He was more positive yesterday than the previous two days," Arteta told reporters.

"He will have another scan and we will see how quickly we can get him back in the team. He knows how important he is for us."

Arteta shuffles his pack with eight changes against City, with Martinelli deemed fit enough to start - alongside Alexandre Lacazette - after his first minutes in nine months at the weekend.

Gabriel Magalhaes is back from suspension, and is joined at the back by outcasts Sead Kolasinac and Shkrodran Mustafi.

Alex Runarsson gets the nod over Bernd Leno in goal.

Starting XI: Runarsson, Mustafi, Gabriel, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Ceballos, Cedric, Willock, Lacazette, Martinelli

Subs: Leno, Tierney, Mari, Smith Rowe, Pepe, Balogun, Nketiah

Kick-off: Tuesday 8pm GMT, Sky Sports

Venue: Emirates Stadium

TV and stream: Sky Sports

Injured: Aubameyang, Partey

Suspended: Xhaka
