Saint-Etienne defender Loic Perrin claims Arsenal have contacted him over a potential transfer
The 29-year-old is valued in excess of £8million and after Les Verts’ weekend win over Nancy, Perrin insisted he had been sounded out over a move to Emirates Stadium.
“I have been contacted personally [by Arsenal],” he said. “Arsenal is interested but for now there is still no contact with my club.”
Both the player and the club have invited an offer from Arsenal in the past few days, with Saint Etienne coach Christophe Galtier revealing they would listen to a “surprising offer” were Perrin to be the subject of interest during the transfer window.
However, although Wenger is aware of Perrin’s career given he rose through the youth ranks at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, making his debut for Saint Etienne more than 11 years ago, Standard Sport understands Arsenal are continuing to consider their options for the time being.
With player availability always uncertain during the season, the Gunners are weighing up a number of defenders and midfielders with Wenger currently expecting to act later rather than earlier in the window.
