Mesut Ozil expressed his delight at Arsene Wenger adding another Germany international to Arsenal's squad, but the playmaker is expecting big things from Shkodran Mustafi - with a little help from Per Mertesacker, of course.

Mustafi finally completed his £35million move from Valencia to Arsenal on Tuesday following a drawn-out transfer saga, with Wenger also adding Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez for £17.1m.

The 24-year-old assured fans he will be worth the wait, saying: “I saw a lot of pictures going around on Twitter, on Instagram and on Facebook. Some of them made me laugh as well. I know that for people who watch football and live football, waiting for new signings isn’t easy sometimes."

And Ozil was one of those to welcome Mustafi to the club on Twitter as "the next German Gunner," hinting that he had known about the deal for a good while.

However, Ozil also gave his compatriot a taste of what's to come in north London after tweeting a video of Mustafi dancing with compatriot Mertesacker after winning the 2014 World Cup with Germany.

The Arsenal midfielder wrote: "I hope to see more of those dance moves @Arsenal soon... @MustafiOfficial @mertesacker #GermanGunners".

Strong central-defensive partnerships have been built on a lot less than what passes for a dance routine between Mustafi and Mertesacker, but Wenger has already warned his new signing that Rob Holding will not be keen to give up his starting role after an impressive start to the 2016/17 Premier League season.

Meanwhile, German Olympic star Serge Gnabry has revealed that Ozil and Mertesacker convinced him that Werder Bremen was the right club to move to on his departure from Arsenal.

The German youth international today completed a permanent move to the Bundesliga side, signing for a fee reported to be between £4 and £5million.

And Gnabry credited two former Werder players in the Arsenal side with convincing him that Bremen was the right move for him.

“I’m very happy to be here,” said Gnabry. “Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil have only said positive things about the club."
