Lukas Podolski has joined Inter Milan from Arsenal on loan for the remainder of the season, the Premier League side have announced on their website.

The 29-year-old became increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team chances at Emirates Stadium and voiced his discontent on numerous occasions in the build-up to the New Year.

Podolski has scored 31 goals in 82 appearances for the Gunners since harriving from Cologne in 2012, but he has not made a single start in the Premier League this term.

On Saturday, the forward posted a message of thanks to Arsenal supporters on social media ahead of official confirmation of his temporary move to Serie A.

“I can't express in words my gratitude towards Arsenal fans for all they have done for me in my years in London,” he wrote on Instagram.

Podolski, who was part of the World Cup winning squad in Brazil during the summer, has already linked up with Roberto Mancini's Serie A side and trained in Milan on Monday.

"He is experienced and has a wonderful career behind him," Mancini, the former Manchester City boss, said at a press conference.

"He will help us and is not at the end of his career."
