Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal trio Shkodran Mustafi, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck could be fit to face Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day.

The Germany international has been sidelined with a hamstring injury for the past three weeks, while Oxlade-Chamberlain missed the Gunners’ Boxing Day victory over West Brom, also with a hamstring issue.

"Shkodran is back in normal training and he will be back in the squad. Alex looks like he could join in normal training on Saturday,” informed Wenger on the club’s official website.

For Welbeck it would mark his first appearance since the 2-2 draw away to Manchester City last May, and returned to first team training on Wednesday.

Wenger admits the striker could return this weekend, but did concede that the derby with Palace will probably be too soon for Theo Walcott (calf strain) and Kieran Gibbs (knee injury).

"Danny Welbeck is doing well in training, so we have plenty of options. Theo Walcott will still be short."

“From the last game, I think we lose Kieran Gibbs. It is not big damage to his knee but he has inflammation and I don't think he will be available.

"On Wednesday he had a scan, but it just showed inflammation. Hopefully it is a short-term injury.
