Alexis Sanchez has a “slight chance” of being fit for Arsenal’s clash with Manchester City on Monday night, according to manager Arsene Wenger.

Standard Sport reported yesterday that Sanchez had begun training and was pushing hard to declare himself fit for the crucial clash at Emirates Stadium.

And speaking this morning at the club’s London Colney base, Wenger insisted he will make the final decision regardless of whether Sanchez says he is ready to play or not.

“He always says he is ready,” said Wenger. “I believe that is normal that he wants to play. You want him to be keen to play. He respects all the decisions I make and that is what I want from him. Maybe there is a slight chance for Alexis to be in the squad again but it is too early to be sure about it.
