Lino Sousa undergoing Aston Villa medical with Arsenal exit agreed

England Under-19 left-back is joining Premier League rivals ahead of his Gunners contract expiring

Arsenal defender Lino Sousa is undergoing a medical at Aston Villa after the Midlands club agreed a deal for the left-back.

Sousa has been with Arsenal since January 2022 after electing to leave West Brom and sign professional terms with the Gunners.

He has since featured regularly for the club’s under-21 side, but has failed to make his first-team debut.

Sousa, whose Arsenal contract is due to expire this summer, is now heading to Aston Villa after they agreed a permanent deal for him.

The 19-year-old was undergoing a medical with Villa on Wednesday afternoon ahead of completing the move.

Sousa, who is eligible for Portugal, has been capped regularly by England at youth level and most recently played for their U19 side.

He has trained regularly with the first team at Arsenal and been involved in pre-season tours, but will now continue his development elsewhere.
