Antonio Conte demoralised as Chelsea face key transfer test after tough tour

Chelsea are back in London after a pre-season tour which raised more questions than it answered for Antonio Conte.

The Premier League champions kicked off their summer tour with a fine 3-0 win against Arsenal in Beijing, but Kenedy's controversial social media posts clouded the club's time in China before the Blues stumbled to two defeats in Singapore.

Conte's side went 3-0 down early on to Bayern Munich in worrying fashion, and while new £58million signing Alvaro Morata nabbed an assist to help record a more respectable 3-2 defeat, the champions' defence has been porous as the new season approaches.

Chelsea fell to a further 2-1 loss against Inter Milan, and Conte cut a dejected figure as the Blues embarked on the long trip back to London with the new season fast approaching.

Conte's men face Arsenal in the Community Shield next Sunday, and the Italian coach has been frustrated in his attempts to further add to his squad beyond the arrivals of Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger.

The former Italy and Juventus coach wants as many as four new signings to strengthen Chelsea to challenge on four fronts for the coming season, but will have little chance to bed in any new signings before the start of the campaign unless deals are done at lightning speed.
