Winning start: Arsenal defeated Manchester City to claim the Community Shield
Standard Sport14 August 2014

The curtain rises on the new Premier League season this weekend, and we've caught up with the fans to hear their thoughts, ambitions and fears ahead of the new campaign.

They signed Alexis Sanchez, Nicklas Bendtner has been shipped out, and the Community Shield is hanging in the Emirates trophy cabinet alongside last season's FA Cup.

Overall, it has been a good summer for Arsene Wenger.

But how are the fans feeling?

Well, to take us through the goings on inside the Emirates, we spoke Arsenal fan Peter Wood of Le Grove to get his take ahead of the new season.

ARSENAL'S TRANSFER WINDOW

Best Signing:Shad Forsythe (fitness coach)Should Have Signed:Mario Balotelli

How successful has Arsenal's transfer window been?

Probably our most successful transfer window since 2002.

Arsene Wenger chased attributes this summer. We needed power and pace, and he’s brought in Alexis Sanchez, bulked up Yaya Sanogo, brought back Joel Campbell, addressed keeper concerns and replaced Bacary Sagna. It’s been great.

That said, we still need a striker, experienced centre back and a defensive midfielder.

TEAM REPORT

Key Player:Aaron RamseyBreakthrough Player:Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Something to Prove:Jack WilshereThe Weakest Link:Kieran Gibbs

Is the squad looking better than last season's?

Much better. We lacked pace last season through injury and a lack of players. Once we have Theo back in the fold, we’ll have one of the fastest forward lines in Europe along with one of the most creative.

The pace will unleash the creativity in Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey. They can play balls into space rather than into feet.

THE PREDICTION

Final League Position:3RD

What will qualify as a good season for Arsenal?

I think another cup win, reaching the semi finals of the Champions League and a top two in the Premier League.

Ambitious? Sure, but a fan can dream.
