Everton in bad shape, admits Toffees boss Moyes after Chicago defeat
manager David Moyes has given a sorry appraisal of the club's progress following their 2-0 friendly defeat by Chicago Fire.
Moyes, who could be without James Vaughan for the season's start after he was sent off for a reckless late challenge, bemoaned the fact the club is struggling to sign the players they need to challenge for European places again this season.

Moyes, who is still chasing Sporting Lisbon's Joao Moutinho, said: 'We are in a poor, poor situation regarding going forward. We can't hide the fact that we need new players. Everybody knows it. I know it, the players know it. We have to get five or six players in before the season starts. There's not enough competition for the players to realise that if they play poorly they won't be selected.'
Everton must wait to see if the Vaughan incident is reported to the FA. If it is he is almost certain to be suspended.
