Eriksson ready to lose his temper

13 April 2012

Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed that he has not lost his temper once with his England players - but made it clear that he would not be afraid to do so if the need arose.

Eriksson's calm, laid-back approach has played a crucial part in ensuring the relaxed atmosphere which pervades through the camp at their La Manga training camp.

However, the England coach insists that if any of his players was to fail to give him their full effort, he would act immediately.

He declared: "I don't remember when the last time was that I got angry but I can assure you that it happened.

"It has not happened with the England team though. There are no reasons to be angry with them so far, absolutely not."

Eriksson is hardly the type to throw tea-cups around the dressing-room, but insists that he does lay down the law at half-time if his team need it.

"What makes me angry is having someone in the team who is not trying 100%. That makes me very upset," he added.

"You can score an own goal, fail with 10 passes but that happens in football. If you don't give 100 per cent for the team and your team-mates, then I get angry.

"Hopefully it will not happen in public, although maybe it will in the dressing-room. You can be angry in different ways."

Eriksson nevertheless believes that he has won the respect of the England players after just four games in charge.

"You will have to ask the players but I think that I have. Of course, when you get good results, life is easier for everyone," he said.

"It's important that we grow together as we must have a strong unit if you want to achieve results.

"Especially when you lose a game, then you have to be very strong, to defend the team and squad against the outside world. That's important.

"You always hope that things will go well for your team. So far, it's gone very well. I didn't expect to be as well treated as I have been so far.

"I feel at home, wherever I go. Whichever club I go to, they take care of me and I feel like one of them."
