Edwards in season's best

World and Olympic champion Jonathan Edwards recorded the longest triple jump of the season with 17.67 metres at the Milan international meeting.

The Briton, who holds the world record at 18.29m, eclipsed the season's previous best of 17.63m by Kenta Bell of the US in April.

Romania's Marian Oprea finished second last night with a jump of 17.39m.

Women's world champion sprinter Zhanna Pintusevich of the Ukraine cruised to victory in the 100m, clocking 11.19sec.
