Duff hits 50 mark in style

14 April 2012

Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr hailed Damien Duff's display as "sensational" in the 1-0 win over Portugal.

Duff, watched by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, celebrated his 50th cap with a virtuoso display.

Kerr said: "He was sensational. Damien is certainly in the top world bracket at the moment."

Ireland won with a 21st-minute goal from Andy O'Brien.

Elsewhere, Duff's club-mate Geremi gave Cameroon a 1-0 win over Senegal in a friendly in Paris. Charlton's Dennis Rommedahl was on target for Denmark in their 2-1 defeat against Greece in a World Cup qualifier.
