Derby County look likely to post the highest opening day gate of the new Championship season.

Over 30,000 fans are expected to pack Pride Park to see whether Paul Jewell can get his new season off to a flying start.

Club officials have reported a bumper response to the club's call for support in the wake of their demotion from the Premier League last term.

With visitors Doncaster Rovers making the short trip from Yorkshire - and they have sold their allocation - the sell-out signs may be close to going up.

Derby have sold 23,000 season-tickets and the pressure will be on Jewell to produce after he failed to win a match since taking over at the nine months ago.
