Davis: Don't take a win for granted

13 April 2012

Sean Davis has told his Fulham team-mates to beware at Rochdale in the Worthington Cup tonight - because it is only five years since they travelled to Spotland for a Third Division league clash.

Davis was only 16 at the time, sitting impatiently in the stands waiting for his first-team debut - which came just three months later against Cambridge.

"Things were very different in those days," he said. "The club didn't have any money and I never dreamt we would be in the Premiership just five years later.

"Rochdale will make it really difficult for us but if everyone works hard and plays to their strengths then we will be okay."

Fulham are expected to give reserve goalkeeper Maik Taylor a rare start tonight, along with defenders Zat Knight and Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Louis Saha could be given a rest, while record ? 11.5 million signing Steve Marlet is still not fit from a knee injury. Alain Goma and Jon Harley are also injured.
