West Ham chairman Eggert Magnusson has backed manager Alan Curbishley "100%" after the Hammers' season hit a new low yesterday.

The Upton Park club are bottom of the Barclays Premiership and 10 points from safety following yesterday's defeat by Tottenham.

The Hammers lost 4-3 at Upton Park having twice thrown away the lead, but while Curbishley is under intense pressure despite having only taken over from Alan Pardew this season, Icelander Magnusson insists the former Charlton manager's job is safe.

"I want everyone to know that Alan Curbishley remains the man who we will build our future success on," Magnusson said.

"Nothing has changed regarding our long-term plans and he still has my full support - 100%.

"We showed excellent spirit yesterday and we will continue our fight to survive."

Magnusson also thanked the club's "fantastic" supporters.

"I want to pay tribute to our fans who have been fantastic. They were one of the main reasons I bought the club and I know it has not been easy to support us in recent weeks.

"They all have my heartfelt thanks."

Hammers legend Julian Dicks believes "three or four players" are letting the side down.

"I've watched a few games this season and some players just seem to go through the motions," he told Sky Sports News.

"In yesterday's game every single one of them gave 110%. I don't know if they want to be at the club or not.

"I'm not going to name names but there are three or four players that, to me, don't seem to try.

"It doesn't matter who the manager is - I played under managers that I didn't like but I never let them down on the pitch. It shouldn't make any difference whatsoever. You go out and you've got to perform for 90 minutes."
