Joe Root believes Adil Rashid can help England cope better with high-class spin bowling in the World Twenty20.

England face West Indies in their opening game of the tournament tomorrow and warmed up for the match with a 14-run win over a Mumbai XI, in which Rashid, Jos Buttler, James Vince and David Willey played for the opposition.

Rashid took two for 33 from his four overs and Root said: "It's always good to face someone like him as he has the ability to spin the ball both ways. There will be times when we have to make sure we can face that in the tournament.

"He's a very skilful bowler and it's great to get a chance to face someone like that in a match situation instead of just in the nets. Hopefully everyone got lots out of it. I know I did."

Root's 48 from 34 deliveries, including three fours and two sixes, helped England beat the locals. Opening pair Jason Roy (32 from 21) and Alex Hales (37 from 22) played their part while Willey took an unlikely hat-trick for Mumbai, removing Root, Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan in consecutive deliveries.
