Coppell wants to avoid suspensions

13 April 2012

Steve Coppell, the Brentford manager, has urged his players to avoid getting booked as they prepare for tomorrow's trip to Wrexham.

The Bees are on course for an exciting end to the season as they sit in fourth place in the Second Division with automatic promotion still a possibility. But Coppell fears the impact of suspensions.

He said: "We have a small squad and can't afford to lose people. There's no need to pick up yellow cards. Look at Ivar Ingimarsson. He's a very competitive centre-back but he hasn't been booked all season."

Midfielder Martin Rowlands should recover in time from a back injury.
