Tour de France green jersey winner Mark Cavendish heads a 10-strong British contingent in the Team Sky squad for 2012.

The 2011 BBC Sports Personality of the Year, who won five stages on last year's Tour, has been recruited from HTC-Highroad along with Bernhard Eisel, Danny Pate and Kanstantsin Siutsou, four of eight new additions in the 28-man roster.

Criterium du Dauphine winner and three-time Olympic gold-medallist Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome - who finished second, one place ahead of Wiggins, in last year's Vuelta a Espana - Geraint Thomas, Jeremy Hunt, Peter Kennaugh, Alex Dowsett, Luke Rowe, Ian Stannard and Ben Swift complete the British contingent.

Cavendish, who won last year's world road race title, said: "It is the first time as a successful rider that I have moved team so I cannot compare the feeling to anything else.

"I can't imagine it would be anywhere near as easy to be in a team anywhere else. I really feel at home. It is like coming home, where the riders are not just new team-mates but friends. They are guys I grew up with and a lot of my old team-mates are here anyway.

"On the management side, it is people I know very well with Rod Ellingworth and Dave Brailsford. To be honest, they are the people that made me who I am today so it is as simple as saying I am coming home."

Team principal Brailsford said: "With Mark Cavendish joining riders like Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomas and Edvald Boasson Hagen, we have a hugely talented squad of riders with proven ability at the very highest level of our sport."
