Carr tells Hoddle he's fit for showdown

13 April 2012

Stephen Carr gave new Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle a boost today by announcing he is fit for Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal.

The 24-year-old Irish full-back has played only 30 minutes first-team football since December because of a hernia operation and groin injury.

But Carr has timed his comeback to perfection and is ready to play in Hoddle's first game in charge.

Carr said today: "There could be no better game to come back for. This was always a target for me and in the time scale I was given.

"It will be up to the manager but I'm up for selection.

"Things are coming along fine. I'm gradually getting my fitness levels back up and I hope to be involved on Sunday.

"But if selected, I don't think fitness would come into it. The adrenalin would be pumping in a semi-final against Arsenal and mentally you wouldn't need to think about it."
