Hull have received a boost with the news promising midfielder Tom Cairney has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The 19-year-old has made a big impression in his debut season in the first team and was reportedly being monitored by a number of other Premier League clubs.

But Cairney, who scored his first top-flight goal against Everton earlier this month, has now pledged his immediate future to Iain Dowie's side by putting pen to paper on a contract until 2013.

Fellow youth team product Mark Cullen, 17, who featured against Wigan in the FA Cup, has also signed a new deal until 2012.

Cairney said: "This caps a great season from a personal point of view. At the start of the season I didn't think I'd make the five-appearance mark in the first team."

Chairman Adam Pearson added: "Everybody here believes that Tom and Mark have really bright futures in the game and we're looking forward to seeing them fulfil their potential with Hull City."
