Button's best too good for Coulthard

13 April 2012

Jenson Button has warned David Coulthard to expect a season-long battle for supremacy after producing another impressive points-winning display in the San Marino Grand Prix.

The 22-year-old beat Coulthard's McLaren in a fair fight for the first time to clinch fifth place at Imola yesterday as Ferrari's Michael Schumacher cruised to a commanding victory.

Button's third successive points finish consolidated his fourth place in the drivers' standings and he said: "That was one of my best races ever. This track has been a nightmare for me in the past.

"It's great to be in the points again and to still be fourth in the championship after four races is a big boost. We are only one point behind McLaren now."
